The Grand Old Duke announced today that he would be asking General Custard (and his trusty bugeleer Rhubarb) to discuss sending several units of Glevumneumites with the Freedonian Expeditionary Force heading into the Crimson Empire.
"This is a far away place of which we know nothing, or at least very little" said the Grand Old Duke. "But that has never stopped our ancestors from interfe ... er ... standing up for the rights of the common man". "
He went on to say "We don't yet have a Legation in the Crimson Empire, but in the face of naked aggression we feel like we share a common Legacy with the peoples of Freedonia".
According to inside sources General Custard (and his trusty bugeleer Rhubarb) has been given two large crates full of Duchy Flags, to ensure that no one forgets the participation of the Gevumnums in this Glorious Crusade - assuming it happens and is Glorious. A spokesman for the Grand Old Duke suggested that he had had his eye on a few nice looking properties he saw in the etchings just behind the Freedonian Legation and that several flags had been earmarked for that location as a place from which to best celebrate any Glory.

Grand Duchy of Glevum sits on the Fence
At the recent Battle of High Trees, Mercenaries from the Grand Duchy plied their trade on both sides of the lines. Afterwards their commanders made it clear that sitting on the fence had been the more painful of the options for some of their men.
Following the battle those men who fought for the Freedonians had clearly been decimated by Silvanian fire in their efforts to close with the enemy, and had clearly been sacrificed by the Freedonian General who kept his own troops out of range for as long as possible.
Nevertheless the Gleveumneumnum Mercenaries had more than proved their bravery and shown the world their nerves of steel and willingness to drive home their advances against all odds. Afterwards both mercenary units met in the main saloon in High Trees and repeated tales of derring do long into the night.
Much to the chagrin of the Silvanian commanders the saloon was sporting a new Grand Duchy flag the following morning, and his efforts to get the Mercenaries to leave were met with jeers and cat calls from the upper windows.
No Silvanian or even Freedonian Flags were noted in the vicinity and the Saloon has been renamed the Duke of Glevum Snug.

First of Foot, Glevum Mercenaries being eyeballed by a Silvanian spy intent on recruiting these rock steady infantry.
Second of Foot and First of Horse preparing to join the Freedonians before the Battle of High Trees. The sacrifices of these two units turned the tide and the Silvanian right flank underming the morale of the Silvanian commander and forcing him to negotiations. Survivors of these units are being referred to as High Trees Drifters.

No more waiting for GODOT
The Grand Old Duke of Glevum has decided to give up waiting for the Grand Old Duke of Twinklebury to die and thus allow the former to inherit all of his lands. Instead our Glorious Leader has chosen to send expeditionary and mercenary forces far and wide to seek new lands and new opportunities for soldiers and settlers alike.
The Flag Factories and Forges have been churning out Banners and Weapons since the announcement was made, and ticket prices for overseas travel on the Great Liners have gone through the roof.
This is the start of a Glorious New Age for the Grand Duchy of Glevum and our flag will be seen around the globe. The Grand Old Duke made it clear in his State of the Duchy speech that "Wherever a Glevumneum stands a Flag will stand marking his Place in the Sun".
